On-site SEO is self-explanatory. It’s the optimization of those elements on a website that are thought to have a direct impact on search rankings. Those elements can include meta titles & descriptions, H1 tags, and image alt text to name a few.
For this on-site optimization project, the client was a specialty division of a larger company selling an appliance management software. The software itself consisted of two main parts: A platform for monitoring appliance performance and making individual room adjustments, and a diagnostic tool for making faster, more efficient repairs. Additional research was required to understand the client’s product in entirety, but that was eventually accomplished.
The client’s website contained a total of 24 pages. Surprisingly, none of these pages were missing title tags, meta descriptions, or headers. The problem, though, was that those elements were not optimized properly. It was evident that the client had not defined a target keyword for each page and, therefore, the SEO-influencing elements of their website contained filler text or snippets. Additionally, these elements were either over or under recommended character count ranges.
With the client having little idea about which keywords to target, or which were relevant to their product, conducting thorough keyword research was a no-brainer. And considering the small size of their website, I decided that a complete overhaul of its SEO-influencing elements was the best route.
Additionally, I was able to deliver the client an extensive list of keyword ideas for future blog post ideas. See all my on-site recommendations and suggestions within the spreadsheet included below.
